AT THE SCENE

  • Stay calm and stay at the scene.
  • Call 911 if anyone is injured or if you suspect the other driver is under the influence.
  • If no one is injured and it is safe to do so, move your vehicle to the side of the road and make sure it is turned off. If it’s not driveable turn on hazard lights and make sure all passenger are out in a safe place.
  • Report to police if:
  • There are injuries.
  • If other drive does not have documents.
  • If damage appears to be over $2000.00 or there is damage to private or public property.
  • Exchange contact and insurance information.
  • NEVER admit fault, leave that to insurance company or police.
  • If safe take pictures of accident scene and vehicles, this may help with insurance company.

DRIVABLE OR NOT

Do not drive if

  • There are any leaking fluids on the ground (oil, gas, rad or brake fluid).
  • The air bag has been deployed.
  • There has been direct impact to any wheel.
  • Any doors do not open or close.

FOR YOUR INFO

It is your choice of what shop you want to have your vehicle repaired at. Insurance companies may try to steer you towards what they call their preferred shops, but the choice is yours. The only factor that comes into play is if the shop will do the work for what insurance company allows.
